Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is an effect of project-based learning on students' writing achievement. This study used a post-test only control group design. The population in this study students of class X at SMA Negeri 1 Ubud. The research sample amounted to 72 students, consisting of 36 students from class X IPS 2 as the experimental group and 36 students from class X IPS 1 as the control group. Sampling was done by a random sampling technique in the intact group. Data was collected through a post-test in the form of a written test. The collected data was analyzed descriptively and inferentially. On the other hand, students must be active during PjBL implementation even though they use online learning. The results of this study indicate that the average value of the experimental group (Me=64.31) is higher than the control group (Mc 56.17). Hypothesis testing through independent sample test (t-test) showed that there was an effect of the project-based learning model on students' writing achievement with a large effect size (t = 8.067, df = 70 p<0.05).
